Operating Room Technician

Job Summary

Principal Responsibilities

• Assists the surgical team during basic operating procedures.
• Arranges and inventories sterile setup of operations, and passes items as needed to the operating team.
• Aids in the preparation and moving of patients, and in the cleanup of the operating theater.
• May prepare operative Specimens for analysis.
• Reports To: Director, Surgical Services

Education/Licensure Requirements

• Current certification in CPR.
• Must be able to assume on-call duty position with an outside timeframe of fifteen minutes from the hospital.
• Must be able to demonstrate a level of maturity commensurate with the demands of the operating room climate.
• Demonstrates the ability to withstand the increased level of stress imposed by the operating room environment.
• Completion of operating room technician course desired.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist is desirable, but not required.

Conditions Of Employment

• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check, reference checks and a post-offer drug screen.
• Must be employment eligible as verified by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA).
• Tuberculin screening required annually
