About the role
FULL TIME and PRN positions available. All positions have on call time weekly/monthly requirements. The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) at Blue Mountain Hospital is a vital member of our surgical team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs before, during, and after surgery; provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgery, including setup of sterile instruments and supplies and ensuring all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly.
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure seamless care during surgical procedures.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, levels of consciousness, and overall well-being during surgery; respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including pre-operative assessments, intraoperative care, and post-operative recovery, in accordance with hospital policy.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, post-operative care, and any other necessary information related to the patient’s care.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and hospital policies, including those related to patient safety, quality care, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Utah.
- 1–2 years of Operating Room experience including PRE-OP, PACU, and intraoperative care.
- BSN preferred; surgical scrub experience preferred.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and make quick, sound decisions.
- Physical requirements: ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, perform physically demanding tasks, and respond quickly to emergencies.
