Responsibilities

As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures within a Medical/Surgical Infirmary located in a correctional healthcare setting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to document patient care and support clinical decision-making
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures
  • Assist with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
  • Prepare, operate, and maintain surgical equipment and instruments
  • Oversee the sterilization and readiness of surgical instruments
  • Order and maintain necessary medical and surgical supplies
  • Provide patient care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Demonstrate and support PACU Code Blue procedures
  • Assist with patient recovery and post-operative monitoring
  • Support long-term care assessments and clinical operations as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate from an approved accredited school of nursing.
  • License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners or have the ability to transfer RN license to Texas.
  • Experience: At least two years of specific operating room experience.
