About the Role
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Operating Room Assistant, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care tasks in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.
Responsibilities
- Assists with placing patient in the designated surgical position (e.g., supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
- Monitors positioning and traction devices as appropriate.
- Verifies integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.
- Opens sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.
- Assists with room turnover.
- Adheres to aseptic technique principles.
- Maintains OR supply inventory and linen.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency required.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Math computation skills.
- BLS healthcare provider training required.
