About the role
The Surgical Suite requires a patient care aide to assist with daily operations and patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The position involves performing routine and special nursing procedures, providing comfort and support to patients, organizing patient care, and maintaining cleanliness of the unit.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and special nursing procedures as delegated by the professional registered nurse.
- Provide comfort, support, and safety measures appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Assist in meeting the patient's care needs appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Organize time to complete assignments according to assigned responsibilities.
- Position, mobilize, and transport patients according to the designated plan of care and direction from the professional registered nurse or designee.
- Clean and disinfect furniture/equipment following department guidelines.
- Maintain general cleanliness of the unit and restock appropriately.
- Report to the Department Director/designee and notify them of equipment malfunctions affecting the standard of care or legal implications.
- Keep department's sterilization records.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Preferred qualifications include one year of nursing case assistant experience.
