About the role

Assist and/or represent the Supervisor by coordinating production worker activities.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect products to verify conformance with specifications and direct machine set-up and adjustments.
  • Interpret company policies, specifications, blueprints, and work orders to workers; assign duties.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor worker participation to ensure training is being applied and determine if additional training is needed.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase shop, department, or work team efficiency.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving problems.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain production records and distribute reports to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform worker activities within the department.
  • Perform all functions in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties and work assignments as requested or as business needs require.
  • Act as backup/replacement for the Production Supervisor when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced degree not required.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the plastics industry, including extrusion, thermoforming, or blow molding, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and prioritize, organize, and manage multiple projects.
  • Use of basic math skills such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment with basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak and hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Production area temperatures may fluctuate significantly depending on the time of year.
  • Noise levels may range from moderate to high; hearing protection and safety glasses are required while in the production plant.
  • Additional specific safety equipment may be required.
  • Noise level in the office is usually quiet; noise level in production is usually moderate.
