About the role

The Department of Finance in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio) seeks applicants for a Tenure/Tenure Track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Finance specializing in FinTech starting in Fall 2027. The preference is to hire an Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate levels in finance, including FinTech classes, and maintain a strong research focus. Tenured research active faculty generally have a 2/2 teaching load, while untenured, tenure-track faculty teach three courses per year.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in finance or a closely-related discipline
  • Strong evidence of scholarly research in areas related to FinTech, i.e., a portfolio of research papers that are published or with evidence of potential for publication in top-tier finance journals
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in finance, along with the ability to teach FinTech classes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research interests related to the application of machine learning and large language models to asset pricing or risk management, the economics of cryptocurrency and decentralized finance, algorithmic lending and credit markets, the regulation and systemic implications of financial technology platforms, or related topics
  • Ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from wide-ranging backgrounds
