The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC) is the largest in the state and among the largest and most prominent in the nation. The department offers Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in both Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Aerospace Engineering (AE).
Responsibilities
- Course Instruction
- Teach undergraduate courses in core areas of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering courses, which may include: Engineering mechanics (statics, dynamics, strength of materials)
- Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
- Mechanical design and manufacturing
- Systems dynamics and controls
- Curriculum Development
- Collaborate with faculty to develop, revise, and improve course content, instructional materials, and laboratory experiences to enhance student learning and program outcomes.
- Student Engagement
- Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career guidance to students.
- Engage in activities that promote student success and retention.
- Instructional Innovation
- Incorporate active learning strategies, modern pedagogical tools, and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Participate in departmental and university-wide teaching initiatives.
- Service and Collaboration
- Contribute to departmental service, including committee participation, outreach, and recruitment efforts.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the department, college, and university to support the educational mission.
- Professional Development
- Stay current with developments in engineering education and participate in professional development opportunities related to teaching, learning, and pedagogical research.
- Minimum Education and Experience: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, completed before the start date.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching both undergraduate and graduate course.
