About the role
The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the University of Missouri is seeking an Assistant, Associate, or Full Tenure/Tenure Track Professor to join the Medical Oncology Service. The position is cross-posted with a Non-Tenure Track (Teaching / Clinical) Faculty Position in Veterinary Medical Oncology.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality treatment and patient care as a member of the medical oncology service.
- Participate in the clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, modeling professional conduct and providing case-based instruction and feedback.
- Train, mentor, and guide house officers (both residents and interns), providing consistent instruction, feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
- Build and maintain a strong research program in an area of Veterinary Medical Oncology.
- Contribute to and participate in college, departmental, and hospital governance and service through committee work and other activities.
Qualifications
- A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc).
- Successful completion of a residency training program approved by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Specialty of Oncology or the European College of Veterinary Medicine, Specialty of Oncology prior to appointment start date.
- Diplomate status or eligibility for board certification by ACVIM, Specialty of Oncology or an equivalent authority.
- Possession of an advanced degree (Masters or Doctoral level) is required.
- Professional, residency, and graduate training.
- Prior research productivity and experience building and maintaining an externally funded, independent research program.
- Educational and professional achievement, career goals, and the needs of the college.
Benefits
This is a full-time, benefit eligible, 12-month/year appointment. Distribution of effort between teaching, research, and service will depend on the career goals of the final candidate and the needs of the department.
