Open Rank Professor of Gastroenterology

Open-rank faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.

About the role

The incumbent will join a team of experienced Gastroenterology physicians at the University Medical Center, with a commitment to clinical care and scholarly activity. This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with UVA Provost’s policies, School of Medicine (SOM) Promotion and Tenure guidelines, and candidate qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients in clinic
• Perform routine endoscopic procedures
• Attend on the inpatient GI consult service
• Participate in ongoing clinical research
• Assist with teaching of fellows and residents

Requirements

• MD or equivalent degree
• Board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the appointment start date

The successful candidate will pass a criminal background check and pre-employment health/drug screening.
