About the role
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a faculty physician at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, devoted to diagnosing and treating Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and pouchitis.
Responsibilities
CLINICAL – Clinical practice includes hospital rotations, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy, and conducts ambulatory clinics in the IBD Center. The primary clinical focus will be Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
TEACHING - Participate in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and/or graduate students, residents and/or post-doctoral fellows. Participate in the development of the IBD Fellowship Program.
RESEARCH - Maintain a nationally competitive research program with continued extramural funding, peer-reviewed publications, and collaboration with other faculty. You will participate in research with the Division of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition; Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center, and in educational research (including grant writing) and other scholarly activities.
ADMINISTRATIVE – TGH Medical Director, Gastroenterology / IBD. Complete clinical obligations such as chart completion, patient follow-up, reviewing lung offers, triaging calls and labs, organizing outreach clinics and growing the referral network. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications
Minimum: Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
Additional Minimum: Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in an academic medical center.
Leadership experience in IBD.
Proven Academic success in education and/or Research.
