Open-rank Professor in Entrepreneurship (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) beginning August 18, 2027. This full-time, academic-year position is tenure-track or tenured, depending on rank and qualifications.

About the University and Location

The University of Kansas (KU) is a leading research university and a member of the Association of American Universities. The School of Business offers undergraduate, master’s (full-time and online), and doctoral programs, with enrollment approaching 5,000 students. Entrepreneurship is a strategic priority, supported by a robust set of degree programs, coursework, and co-curricular initiatives. In Fall 2027, KU will open the Entrepreneurship Hub, a 29,600-square-foot facility dedicated to student entrepreneurs.

The School of Business is housed in Capitol Federal Hall, a modern facility on KU’s main campus in Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence is a vibrant college town of about 100,000 residents, located 35 miles west of Kansas City. The city offers a nationally recognized live music scene, historic downtown, local businesses, art galleries, microbreweries, and museums. The Kansas City metropolitan area provides diverse dining, shopping, cultural, and professional opportunities, with Kansas City International Airport (MCI) less than an hour away.

Responsibilities

  • Research (40%): Develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda in entrepreneurship and related fields. Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals, present at academic conferences, and contribute to the broader entrepreneurship community.
  • Teaching (40%): Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in entrepreneurship and related disciplines. Mentor and advise students, develop curriculum, and support the School of Business’s educational mission.
  • Service (20%): Engage in service activities at the area, school, university, and professional levels. Contribute through committee work, outreach, student support, and other service aligned with rank and expertise.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Management, or a related field (must be completed by August 18, 2027).
  • Demonstrated or evidence of high potential for excellence in scholarship, as shown through publications in leading entrepreneurship or related academic journals, and promising research projects.
  • Demonstrated or evidence of high potential for teaching excellence in entrepreneurship and related fields.
  • Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level must meet the requirements for Promotion and Tenure at that rank for the KU School of Business.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. by the appointment start date.

This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics (UAKU).
