Open Rank Dentistry Faculty, DCG-General Dentistry (Macon, GA)
About the role
The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in General Dentistry.
The selected candidate will provide comprehensive general dental treatment for patients in outpatient and hospital settings at the Mercer University School of Medicine Center for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Macon, GA as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Augusta University/Dental College of Georgia and Mercer University.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive general dental treatment for patients in outpatient and hospital settings at the Mercer University School of Medicine Center for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Macon, GA as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Augusta University/Dental College of Georgia and Mercer University.
- Participate in relevant DCG, and Mercer University School of Medicine committees or councils, provide administrative oversight for patient records and complete required annual compliance training as assigned by Augusta University and the Mercer School of Medicine.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an ADA accredited dental school or have 5 years of clinical experience and be licensed in or eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience with clinicians and clinical staff, the ability to recognize the need to refer patients for specialty dental treatment and familiarity with digital dentistry workflows.
- Organizational and communication skills as oral health clinician in support of interdisciplinary patient care.
Qualifications
- Must be eligible for GA State dental or faculty license.
- Must be able to effectively collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams of health care providers, e.g., Physicians, nurses, therapists, etc.
- General Dentistry experience and at least 3 years of experience treating special needs patients e.g., with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).
Skills
- Competent patient care: effective interprofessional collaboration, and efficient clinic management including patient record keeping in compliance with institutional and governmental policies.
- Knowledgeable about previous teaching or mentoring experience with clinicians and clinical staff, the ability to recognize the need to refer patients for specialty dental treatment and familiarity with digital dentistry workflows.
- Organizational and communication skills as oral health clinician in support of interdisciplinary patient care.

Pay
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

This position works year-round.
