Open Rank Clinical Professor and Associate Program Director of Counselor Education Program (Charlotte, NC)

About the role

This is a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Clinical Professor) primarily focused on providing leadership to a new counselor education program. The role includes teaching duties, mentorship, program administration, and clinical training oversight. The proposed faculty hire date is July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate courses, including those involving clinical supervision and clinical skills.
• Provide mentorship and advising to counselor education students.
• Perform Associate Program Director duties, such as managing recruitment, enrollment planning, curriculum, admissions, and clinical training oversight.
• Participate in department planning, including meetings at the program, department, and college levels.
• Provide service and leadership to the Department, College, University, community, and profession.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or Mental Health Counseling.
• Graduate of a CACREP-approved program.
• Licensure as a clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina (or eligibility for licensure by the appointment start date).
• Three years of post-licensure experience by the appointment start date.
• Experience providing clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral-level students.
• Experience teaching mental health counseling and counselor education.

  • Experience with data collection or evaluation, managing site agreements or contracts, or maintaining systems that support clinical training (e.g., placement databases, licensure tracking, or accreditation requirements).
• A teaching statement summarizing:
  • Past instructional and mentorship experiences.
  • Pedagogical philosophy.
  • Plans/goals for teaching in the College of Science, including existing and proposed courses.
  • Strategies for teaching and mentoring global student populations.
• A leadership statement describing:
  • Past leadership experiences and future plans.
  • Leadership style and approach to cultivating a culture of belonging, fostering open exchange of ideas, and managing diverse perspectives.

Pay

52-week salary ranges:

• Assistant Clinical Professor: $84,000.00 - $95,000.00
• Associate Clinical Professor: $114,000.00 - $128,000.00
• Clinical Professor: $126,000.00 - $156,000.00

The starting salary will depend on factors such as education, experience, location, knowledge, expertise, and skills, as well as internal pay equity. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
