Job Summary
The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a clinically oriented, ABIM board-certified academic cardiologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.
Responsibilities
Develop a robust outpatient general cardiology practice that you will staff four (4) half days per week at the Wellstar downtown practice sites and/or satellite locations and staff fellow's clinic as needed. These clinics will be restricted and/or cancelled when on in-patient service.
Participate in the Wards and Inpatient Consult services and ECG reading rotations. Your other clinical duties will be reduced when you staff Ward and Consult inpatient services.
Participate in the night weekend call schedules similar to your colleagues.
Participate in cardiac imaging procedures (i.e. echo, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, cardiac nuclear) one to two (1-2) half days per week.
Teaching and supervision of ancillary general cardiology personnel, including advanced practice providers and nurse coordinators when needed; active participation in Division teaching activities supporting medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows. Participation in scholarly activities including publication of case reports, review articles, and original scientific reports.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO, or equivalent. Board Eligible/Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease.
- Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
- Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
- Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
- Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
- Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
- Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class.
