Responsibilities

  • Assume divisional and departmental administrative responsibility as directed by the Division Chief.
  • Teach, mentor, and supervise individual students and residents during in-patient and out-patient consultations and follow-up visits.
  • Prepare lectures, seminars and rounds for students and residents taking the Gastroenterology elective.
  • Provide periodic seminars/educational sessions for the division.
  • Prepare conferences for the Department of Medicine.
  • Provide lectures and conferences at hospitals in communities of Central and Southern Illinois.
  • Complete inpatient and outpatient consultations requested by full-time SIU clinical faculty, house staff and community physicians.
  • Develop and maintain professional practice in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Participate in University, SIU HC and hospital committees as requested.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited medical school program;
  • Graduate of formal specialty training program in Gastroenterology;
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine or eligibility for ABIM;
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Gastroenterology or eligibility for Gastroenterology Board;
  • Licensure in State of Illinois or eligible for such;

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic environment, both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Supplemental Information

The budgeted annual salary range is $300,000 to $330,000, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
