About the role
The University of Texas at Arlington (“UTA”) is pleased to announce the cluster hiring of multiple tenured and/or tenure track academic appointments representing emerging and established career stages, who will contribute to the advancement of Brain Health. We are seeking cross disciplinary research that spans cellular, molecular, genomic, pre-clinical, computational neuroscience, and human studies across the life span to advance knowledge in areas associated with brain health, including cognitive decline, neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders, dementia and related diseases, and mental health. Additionally, investigators using multimodal neuroimaging, artificial intelligence, and multi-omics approaches to build diagnostic tools, identify biomarkers, develop models and tools to predict and improve treatment outcomes to impact population health in both children and adults, and/or discover targets for drug development are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be committed to excellence in research, teaching, and service, and will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, build and lead a team of student researchers, implement a program of externally funded research that yields top-tier publications, and contribute to professional service within UTA and the external community.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. or equivalent in one of the disciplines noted above or a related discipline that clearly aligns with a focus on brain health
- A strong publication record or potential in the field of expertise
- A strong research program with existing external funding or potential for funding
- A commitment to quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels
Preferred Qualifications
- Research experience and expertise in MRI to investigate human brain health with or without neurological diseases
- Demonstrated experience and success securing extramural funding, especially from NIH with R01 support, and publishing in high-impact journals
- Previous experience working in higher education and large research universities, in academic administration, and/or research administration, including innovation and entrepreneurship
- Track record of mentoring success, especially for PhD students, post-doctoral scientists, and junior faculty
- Track record of success in budget and project management
