Onsite Support Personnel
Report to: Programs Coordinator
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Standard Hours: As needed to accomplish work, primarily 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
Summary
Under the supervision of the Work Programs Coordinator, the Work Skills Trainer/Job Coach will provide training and support for individuals served, host site co-workers, families, area businesses, and the community to ensure success during small group employment and/or competitive jobs. This position also includes providing extended services to individuals served who have gained and retain community employment, as well as support for those participating in volunteer work, worksite tours, mock interviews, and paid employment with the Arc’s integrated worksite.
Responsibilities
- Provides individualized support, training, and supervision for individuals served at the worksite or competitive job, including skills training, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, and assistive technology.
- Communicates effectively with Work Programs Coordinator, QDDPs, other job coaches, Direct Support Professionals, employers, co-workers, and family members as needed.
- Performs specific job analysis, task analysis, situational assessments, and job matching activities when required.
- Carries out steps of job coaching and skill training plans with individuals served and other parties as appropriate.
- Works with participants, employers, families, agency personnel, direct support professionals, Work Programs Coordinator, QDDPs, and other appropriate parties to problem-solve issues related to training and employment.
- Practices positive reinforcement techniques with individuals served, co-workers, and other staff.
- Observes and documents individuals served behavior.
- Implements learning opportunity programs and documents data collected for use in quarterly progress reports.
- Accompanies and supervises individuals served participating in community experiences.
- Attends training to become knowledgeable of strategies and current “best practices” in the field of supported employment and/or other areas.
- Travels to worksites and accesses varying workspaces as necessary.
- Performs quality control of work performed by individuals served to ensure all products completed are correct and as specified.
- Adheres to and promotes standards of the Arc’s integrated worksite and/or competitive worksite to promote job productivity and efficiency.
- Reports regularly to supervisor on program participant status.
- Completes and submits all required reporting forms, including hours worked, in a timely manner.
- Adheres to agency policies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the agency.
- Demonstrates daily work assignment responsibilities, including accountability for all hours assigned, punctuality, regular attendance, and participation in appropriate training activities.
- Serves as a driver for transporting individuals served and maintains service records of vehicles.
- Lifts, carries, assists, or restrains individuals served as needed.
- Assists in scheduling volunteer opportunities and community experiences as needed.
- Performs behavior intervention techniques as specified by the funding agency to prevent injury to individuals served and/or others.
Work Environment
Depends wholly on the setting in which training of program participants takes place. Each site may have variable noise and dust levels, varying temperatures, lighting, and ground surfaces.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, lifting, grasping, and stretching, depending on the training site and skill being trained.
- Visual skills and fine motor dexterity.
- Vehicle travel and driving.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
Qualifications
- GED or High School diploma required; degree in a related field preferred but not required.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities (or similar experience) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Ability to perform duties in a variety of settings, including professional situations, private homes, area businesses, and other sites.
- Computer skills, including word processing, Excel, and database management.
