Online Adjunct Professor - Paralegal

About the role

BSC seeks a Part-Time instructor to teach paralegal and some criminal justice courses. The position is remote and open to candidates with a Juris Doctorate and online teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare course(s) in Blackboard with required elements by the designated deadline.
  • Instruct approximately 12-14 hours per week over five days each week, per course.
  • Respond to all student outreach within 48-hours.
  • Facilitate discussion with substantive, high-quality posts and higher-order questioning.
  • Provide detailed, individualized feedback on student work.
  • Maintain the grade book and ensure timely submission of final grades.
  • Engage in retention efforts and outreach to support student success.
  • Follow the Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education.
  • Adhere to the college’s plagiarism policy and promote academic integrity.
  • Apply rigor standards, active learning strategies, and Bloom’s Taxonomy in the classroom.
  • Comply with all student ADA accommodations.
  • Encourage student participation in surveys and evaluations.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidate must possess a Juris Doctorate.
  • Online teaching experience is preferred.
  • Submit a resume/CV, PhD (if applicable), unofficial transcripts, at least 3 professional references (with phone numbers and email addresses).

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree is preferred, but a PhD is required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in education at the college level within the last ten (10) years.
  • Expertise in the areas in which they teach.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, integrity, and ethical practice.
  • Proven administrative, evaluative, analytical, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
  • Proven ability to function as a member of a team within established college, state, federal, and accrediting/approval agency regulations, policies, and procedures.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range of $1700 - $2000 per course, contingent on qualifications and experience.
