About the role
BSC seeks a Part-Time instructor to teach paralegal and some criminal justice courses. The position is remote and open to candidates with a Juris Doctorate and online teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare course(s) in Blackboard with required elements by the designated deadline.
- Instruct approximately 12-14 hours per week over five days each week, per course.
- Respond to all student outreach within 48-hours.
- Facilitate discussion with substantive, high-quality posts and higher-order questioning.
- Provide detailed, individualized feedback on student work.
- Maintain the grade book and ensure timely submission of final grades.
- Engage in retention efforts and outreach to support student success.
- Follow the Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education.
- Adhere to the college’s plagiarism policy and promote academic integrity.
- Apply rigor standards, active learning strategies, and Bloom’s Taxonomy in the classroom.
- Comply with all student ADA accommodations.
- Encourage student participation in surveys and evaluations.
Requirements
- Qualified candidate must possess a Juris Doctorate.
- Online teaching experience is preferred.
- Submit a resume/CV, PhD (if applicable), unofficial transcripts, at least 3 professional references (with phone numbers and email addresses).
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree is preferred, but a PhD is required.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in education at the college level within the last ten (10) years.
- Expertise in the areas in which they teach.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, integrity, and ethical practice.
- Proven administrative, evaluative, analytical, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
- Proven ability to function as a member of a team within established college, state, federal, and accrediting/approval agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary range of $1700 - $2000 per course, contingent on qualifications and experience.
