One-Year Visiting Lecturer - Computer Science Department, Information Technology Program

About the role

The Department of Computer Science within the College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) at James Madison University invites applications for a one-year visiting lecturer position to begin August 2026.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Teach foundation-level and junior/senior level courses in the IT major.
• Specialize in one or more of the following areas: Cybersecurity, Computer Networking, Information Security, Web Technologies, Machine Learning, Database Systems, Web and Mobile Development.
• Commitment to creating and supporting a welcoming learning environment that supports the Computer Science Department, CISE and University mission.
• Teach classes such as IT 203 – Information Security and Privacy, IT 215 – Introduction to Telecommunications and Computer Networking, IT 302 – Societal and Ethical Issues in Information Technology, IT 313 – Community Projects, IT 333 – Advanced Networking for Information Technology, IT 460 – Advanced Cybersecurity, IT 461 – Internetworking, and/or IT 465 – Wireless Networking and Security.

Qualifications

• A doctorate (Ph.D., D.Sc., etc.) or ABD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related field at the time of employment is preferred.
• Candidates with at least a master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a closely related field and commensurate experience will also be considered.

• Conditions Of Employment
