About the role
The Bancroft School is seeking Paraprofessionals to provide support and encouragement to students with autism and disabilities. This role involves assisting teachers in planning and implementing classroom instruction, assessing student abilities, developing lesson plans, and managing student behavior.
Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to Teacher in planning classroom curriculum and implementing plans to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the assigned student.
- Aids in the development and implementation of lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals.
- Makes recommendations to Teacher regarding the purchase and usage of new supplies and curriculum materials.
- Observes and tracks student behavior, gathers behavioral data, performs calculations, and creates graphic illustrations for review by Teachers, clinical-specific staff, etc., to identify and monitor student proficiency and performance levels, to support modifications to current educational program.
- Provides ongoing assistance to Teacher in the management of individual behavior of students to create and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment.
- Reports any safety hazards, property damage, etc. to Teacher.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of Three (3) years of direct support experience, preferably within an educational or classroom-based setting
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of adaptive teaching strategies
- Ability to manage classroom behavior and resources

Pay
Hourly Rate: $19.97-$22.29/hr
