One to One Paraprofessional

About the role

The Bancroft School is seeking Paraprofessionals in Mt Laurel, NJ to support children with autism and disabilities. This role involves assisting teachers in classroom instruction, encouraging students, and implementing lesson plans tailored to individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Supports the planning and implementation of classroom instruction to meet the educational needs of the assigned student.
• Encourages and supports the student to contribute to the best possible educational experience.
• Aids in the development and implementation of lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meeting the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the assigned student.
• Maintains order and guides students to socially appropriate behavior in the classroom.
• Utilizes classroom equipment and materials under the direction of the teacher.
• Observes and tracks student behavior, gathers data, and reports any safety concerns to the teacher.
• Works collaboratively with teachers and clinical staff to modify educational programs based on student performance.
• Assists in managing individual student behavior to create and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of direct support experience, preferably in an educational or classroom-based setting.
• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
