About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in supporting students' educational and healthcare needs within the school setting.
Responsibilities
- Maintains confidentiality of medical and educational related concerns in the school setting
- Collaborates with student's school nurse, teacher, and therapists to optimize the educational experience
- Demonstrates professional behavior when interacting with school staff, parents, and students
- Self-directed and works within the scope of the job description
- Takes directives and follows through with high-quality student care
- Communicates effectively with the student, supervising nurse, classroom colleagues, and others
- Safely manages and operates equipment
- Maintains professional dress and appearance, including wearing of school issued ID and name tags
- Maintains a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude
- Maintains current CPR/First Aid and CNA certifications
- Assists with 1:1 assigned students' participation in the swim program, including entering the pool when necessary with the student
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- CNA Certification
- Documentation of job-specific training/competency
- Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR/First Aid)
Physical Requirements
- No lifting, bending, or twisting restrictions
- Able to ambulate quickly and walk up four flights of stairs
