Oncology Veterinary Technician

About the role

VCA Aurora Animal Hospital is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join their expanding Medical Oncology Service. Full-time positions are available, offering four 10-hour weekday shifts with no weekend coverage. Compensation ranges from $23 to $33 per hour, with starting pay determined by licensure, skill set, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with oncology appointments, diagnostics, chemotherapy, and advanced treatments.
• Safely administer and monitor chemotherapy while adhering to safety protocols.
• Be proficient in anesthesia, sedation, anesthetic monitoring, and patient recovery for advanced procedures.
• Place IV catheters, collect laboratory samples, administer medications, and provide exceptional nursing care.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Educate and support clients throughout their pet’s treatment journey.
• Collaborate with specialists across multiple departments to ensure outstanding patient care.

Requirements

• Strong technical skills, particularly in placing IVCs, anesthesia, sedation, and anesthetic monitoring.
• Compassionate, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about learning and growing in specialty medicine.
• A team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Veterinary Technician.
• Experience with oncology and advanced treatments preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.

$23–33/hour.
