Responsibilities
- Guides patients, families, and caregivers through the healthcare system for timely screening, diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care.
- Collaborates with other healthcare team members to identify and educate patients with cancer diagnoses.
- Assesses financial needs for cancer patients and outpatient infusion patients, including reviewing insurance, disease state, and treatment regimen.
- Educates patients about insurance optimization opportunities to reduce financial burdens and assists with payment for treatment.
- Maintains strong relationships with other members of the treatment team and participates in professional development activities.
- Reports quarterly data on savings and recovery of payment generated in this role.
- Acts as a subject matter expert for the Financial Navigation Team and presents data to senior leadership.
Requirements
- Graduate from a school of nursing with a BSN.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Oncology nursing certification (OCN) preferred.
- Minimum of three years recent and relevant oncology clinical experience.
- Effective communication skills, including planning, organizing, and managing patient care.
- Ability to work independently in various settings and assess problematic situations.
- Knowledge of internal and external resources/services to assist identified populations.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate from a school of nursing with a BSN.
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN license in Ohio and OCN preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three years recent and relevant oncology clinical experience.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including public speaking and establishing a positive public presence.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and teaching abilities.
- Program Development: Experience in program development preferred.
- Problem Solving: Ability to holistically assess and initiate a plan of action in all environments.
- Resourcefulness: Knowledge of internal and external resources/services to assist identified populations.
