About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient-focused, and highly organized Oncology Nurse Coordinator to serve as a primary clinical contact for patients and caregivers throughout their healthcare journey. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who excels in care coordination, patient advocacy, communication, and delivering an exceptional patient experience.

The Oncology Nurse Coordinator serves as the primary clinical contact for patients and caregivers, offering personalized support throughout the healthcare journey. Coordinates multidisciplinary care and ensures efficient, effective communication among providers. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care. Acts as the central point of contact for patient and caregiver inquiries related to care plans. Proactively anticipates patient needs to ensure timely navigation. Assesses learning needs and provides education to promote adherence to established care plans. Enhances the patient experience by delivering exceptional customer service and promptly addressing concerns. Performs all responsibilities aligned with the Nurse II role, with additional emphasis on care coordination, communication, and patient advocacy. Interacts with patients via phone, virtual visits, and the patient portal to ensure care is well coordinated.

  • Perform all responsibilities aligned with the Nurse II role, with additional emphasis on care coordination, communication, and patient advocacy.
  • Interact with patients via phone, virtual visits, and the patient portal to ensure care is well coordinated.

Requirements

  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or eligibility for certification.
  • One of the following education and experience combinations:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and one (1) year of full-time experience in oncology nursing, medical-surgical nursing, or critical care.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.
    • Associate’s degree in Nursing and three (3) years of full-time experience in oncology nursing, medical-surgical nursing, or critical care.
    • Associate’s degree in Nursing and five (5) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
  • Incumbents must obtain and maintain applicable certification, as required by area of specialty and outlined in Departmental procedures, within thirty (30) months of appointment to this position and as a condition of continued employment.
  • Incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
  • Incumbents must complete twelve (12) cancer-related contact hours per calendar year unless certified by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of thoracic oncology experience.
  • Thoracic telephone triage experience.
  • Current BLS certification.

Pay

Starting hourly rate is $51.65, which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The actual compensation offered may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
