Job Description
Assists in the evaluation and treatment of patients. Documents care in medical records. Conducts patient interviews and documents histories, psychosocial histories, health status, and medical problems. Performs physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under physician direction. Diagnoses problems, develops care plans, and prescribes treatment. Orders and schedules tests, performs procedures, communicates with patients about procedures, arranges consultations, educates patients, and maintains patient records. Participates in professional development and attends in-services. Trains and teaches other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Licensed as an advanced practice nurse in Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by ANCC or equivalent, or certified as a Physician's Assistant by NCCPA
- Georgia license required
- One year of direct experience in high acuity clinical specialties may be required
- PALS, BLS, or ACLS certification may be required in some areas
