About the role
AstraZeneca seeks a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with expertise in Oncology to support the advancement of our pipeline. The MSL will serve as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca, building strategies to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a local medical strategy to enhance patient care and outcomes
- Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists, urologists, and members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- Collaborate with clinicians to discuss data and identify educational gaps
- Communicate internal insights and findings to improve patient care and outcomes
- Stay updated on scientific advancements and share insights with key opinion leaders (KOLs)
- Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences
- Discuss and follow up on End Study Reports (ESRs) as needed
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree in a relevant health science or clinical discipline (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA, NP)
- 2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
- Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences
- Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations, and in small group dialogues
- Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
- Basic understanding of the healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics, and regulatory environment
- Excellent project management skills
- Desirable: Doctorate in a health science or clinical discipline
Qualifications
- Territory includes: New York state (not NYC or LI), Connecticut, and Northern New Jersey

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Understanding of the healthcare system and clinical trial methodology
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements

Pay
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $174,455 to $261,682. Base pay offered may vary based on individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Schedule
The position offers a flexible schedule, with 40-60% travel by car and plane domestically.
