Responsibilities
- Ensure the appropriate use and stewardship of medical supplies and equipment to support patient safety and operational efficiency
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment
- Assess patients and respond promptly to changes in their condition
- Manage emergency patient situations, including codes
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans and care procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, procedures, and care plans, ensuring understanding and compliance based on assessed learning needs
- Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with nursing practices
- Follow CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of PPE, perform hand hygiene according to policy, and enforce safety regulations
- Promote a positive patient experience by demonstrating caring behaviors, maintaining clear communication, and collaborating with the care team to provide safe, timely, and effective whole person care
Requirements
- Associate's of Nursing degree [Required]
- Bachelor's degree in nursing [Preferred]
- Field of study in nursing BSN [Required]
- 1+ years of experience in acute care nursing [Required]
- Oncology experience [Preferred]
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license [Required]
- Basic Life Support - CPR certification (BLS) [Required]
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification [Preferred]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) [Preferred]
Skills
- Excellent clinical nursing expertise in oncology care
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Computer proficiency
