About the role

The Oncology Data Specialist abstracts newly diagnosed cancer cases, assists with case identification, and performs quality control procedures on data. Duties also include responding to data inquiries, maintaining database records, extracting data, and submitting reports to state and/or central registries.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract newly diagnosed cancer cases.
  • Assist with case identification.
  • Perform quality control procedures on data.
  • Respond to data inquiries.

  • Extract data and submit reports to state and/or central registries.

Requirements

  • College-level curriculum in Cancer Data Management or equivalent education/experience.
  • Upon hire: National Oncology Data Specialist certification from the National Cancer Registrars Association.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree (preferred).
  • Coursework or training in Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Experience abstracting newly diagnosed cancer cases.
  • Experience working in an ACoS-approved Cancer Registry.
  • Proficiency with Cancer Registry software, such as ONCOLog.

Pay

The wage range for this position varies based on relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts represent the base pay range; additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Schedule

Full time, Day shift.

This role is based at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR, with remote workplace options available.
