On Demand HR Business Partner/Consultant
About the role
MRA-The Management Association is seeking an HR Business Partner to join our HR Services team. This On Demand, hybrid role works directly with our member companies—on-site at locations in Golden Valley, Minnesota—providing hands-on HR expertise that drives real business results. Because this is an on-demand role, your workload will shift based on active member assignments. The ability to pick up new projects quickly, manage several at once, and pivot when priorities change is essential.
Please note: This is an on-demand role with no guaranteed hours. Assignments are project-based and vary in scope and duration—making it an ideal fit for an experienced HR consultant who values flexibility over a predictable schedule. As an HR consultant, you’ll partner with organizations across multiple industries, serving as a trusted advisor on both strategic and day-to-day HR challenges. You’ll tackle a wide range of HR responsibilities, from employee relations and open enrollment to advising leaders, improving processes, and solving compliance issues.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and complete ongoing assignments for members (clients) using sound HR practice principles and in the most cost-effective manner. Provide HR support to member organizations ranging from 10 employees to 10,000.
- Example responsibilities include:
- Payroll & benefits administration
- Policy interpretation & implementation
- Coaching leaders on a variety of employee-related issues
- Employee life-cycle management
- HR Compliance
- Day-to-Day HR Support
- Employee Relations
- Support members with project types such as:
- Employee handbooks development
- HR & Payroll Audits
- 3rd Party Investigations
- HR Systems Implementation and Integration
- Other strategic projects
- Maintain accurate billable service records and complete semi-monthly time and activity reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 10-12 years of HR experience
- PHR and/or SHRM-CP Certification a plus
- Proficient in MS Office software
- Strong knowledge of multiple HRIS platforms. ADP WFN, UKG Pro, Paylocity, Paycom, and/or Paycor preferred
- Prior hands-on experience processing payroll
- The ability to travel to member companies on-site within an hour of Schaumburg, IL
