The Prep/Pantry Cook supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, assembling cold menu items, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all dishes meet the club’s high culinary standards. This role is essential in keeping the kitchen running smoothly, assisting with prep work, pantry operations, and dishwashing as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion ingredients according to standardized recipes and menu specifications.
  • Execute cold station menu items such as salads, appetizers, and desserts with attention to presentation and quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work station, following all food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Assist with dishwashing duties, including cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with daily kitchen prep for hot line operations, banquets, and special events.
  • Properly store and label food items to ensure freshness and prevent waste.
  • Support kitchen operations by restocking items and assisting other cooks as needed.
  • Follow direction from the Executive Chef, ensuring timely and accurate order execution.
  • Uphold the standards of Desert Princess Country Club’s culinary excellence and member service expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a country club, resort, or upscale dining setting.
  • Strong knife skills and understanding of basic cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure during peak service times.
  • Team-oriented attitude with a passion for quality and continuous learning.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
  • Secondary education preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and other qualifications may be considered.

Skills

  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.

Schedule

  • Varied working hours to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Subject to callback during emergency conditions (severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).

Physical Job Description

  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Work in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments.

Work Environment

The line cook works in a well-lighted, clean environment. Constant interaction with other people and handling several responsibilities at once may be required.

Pay

$18.00-$20.00/hr
