On-Call Patient Care Assistant

Overview

The On-Call Patient Care Assistant provides personal care, comfort measures and environmental services to clients, including those needing special precautions. This role requires demonstrating knowledge of patient care appropriate to the age of the patient served, promoting a safe work environment, and working effectively with the Private Duty team.

What You Will Do

• Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
• Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
• Demonstrates the ability to follow the plan of care that assures patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support for the patients’ value system.
• Provides care consistent with both verbal and/or written instructions.
• Demonstrates competent understanding of assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation.
• Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Program Graduate, Personal Care Aide Training Program Approved by VA Department of Health/DMAS (Required) or Program Graduate, Nurse Aide Training Program Approved by VA Board of Nursing (Preferred).
• Experience: Prior work experience in a home care setting (Preferred).
• Licenses and Certifications: CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days (Required).
• Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job. Valid Drivers License Required.
