OM Project Manager I

About the role

The Project Manager I plays a pivotal role at G&W Electric, focusing on customer needs by communicating proactively and effectively with internal and external customers. This position manages orders, including escalations from Inside Sales Support Reps, and leads end-to-end project initiatives to ensure timely delivery, high-quality deliverables, milestones, clear documentation, and proactive communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop project plans including timelines, tasks, milestones, and contingency plans, including risk mitigation for agreed-upon contracts.
• Develop and adhere to a project schedule while tracking progress, monitoring task completion of other teams, and identifying at-risk responsibilities.
• Consult with various departments to resolve technical and scheduling issues during the order life cycle.
• Work closely with the Sales team to support customer/order activity.
• Provide timely and effective communication to internal and external customers.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to refine team processes, tools, and overall customer experience.
• Assist management with global manufacturing efforts by leading and executing plans provided by them.
• Maintain customer files, including specific requirements as defined within the team’s protocol (e.g., ISO, G&W Work Instruction, or procedure).
• Check approval drawings for accuracy before transmission to the customer.
• Liaise with the Finance Department to ensure timely invoicing and payment, and request performance bonds through finance.
• Ensure all submittal documentation is developed and sent to the end user or sales representative in the agreed-upon time.
• Perform order validation and effectively manage design changes after the purchase order is received.
• Plan and organize resources necessary to complete projects using project management principles, techniques, and tools.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Technical aptitude.
• 1-2 years of Project Management or Customer Service experience.
• Documented ability to resolve issues independently.
• Documented ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of JD Edwards software.
• 1-2 years of experience in an operational role within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience within the power industry.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

• General office environment with PC use.
• Light lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less).
• Stooping and standing.
• Heavy lifting (frequent 25 lbs+).

Pay

Typical pay is $63,550 – $84,493 annually. Pay is based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
