Overview

We are seeking an Attorney specializing in examination of title to real property to join our dynamic Energy Department. We will consider candidates interested in working in Bismarck, Fargo, Des Moines, Madison, or Minneapolis offices, as well as candidates seeking a remote work arrangement; candidates who would be based in one of our office locations are preferred.

About the Role

You will work on a diverse range of oil and gas and renewable energy projects, with a focus on oil and gas title examination. You will be responsible for examining title records, determining ownership to surface, mineral, and leasehold interests in numerous tracts of land, researching and analyzing unique title issues, and drafting complex title opinions.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a diverse range of oil and gas and renewable energy projects

Requirements

  • 3-8+ years of experience of related legal experience
  • Background in one or more of the following areas: title examination; oil and gas transactions, particularly involving lease, easement, or purchase agreement drafting, and title and survey review; real estate transactions, particularly involving lease, easement or purchase agreement drafting, and title and survey review
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills
  • Strong academic background
  • J.D. from an ABA-Accredited Law School
  • Licensed to practice in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, or Wisconsin (depending upon location)

Qualifications

  • Specific experience with oil and gas title examination is a plus

Skills

  • Experience in oil and gas and/or real estate transactions
