Oil & Gas Attorney (3-8 Years Experience) (Multiple Locations) - Madison, WI

About the role

We are seeking an Attorney specializing in examination of title to real property to join our dynamic Energy Department. We will consider candidates interested in working in Bismarck, Fargo, Des Moines, Madison, or Minneapolis offices, as well as candidates seeking a remote work arrangement; candidates who would be based in one of our office locations are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on a diverse range of oil and gas and renewable energy projects, with a focus on oil and gas title examination.
• Examine title records, determine ownership to surface, mineral, and leasehold interests in numerous tracts of land.
• Research and analyze unique title issues.
• Draft complex title opinions.

Requirements

• 3-8 years of experience in related legal experience, preferably in title examination, oil and gas transactions, and real estate transactions.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills.
• A strong academic background with a J.D. from an ABA-Accredited Law School.
• Licensed to practice in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, or Wisconsin (depending upon location).

Qualifications

• Specific experience with oil and gas title examination is a plus.
• Ability to obtain a license to practice in North Dakota.
