Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities for preschool children in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards.
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through individual and group experiences.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment.
- Assist with meal service, ensuring nutritional and sanitary standards are met.
- Collaborate with families to support children’s learning and development.
- Participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences as required.
- Complete required documentation, including child observations, assessments, and progress reports.
- Adhere to program policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and early childhood development principles.
- Ability to pass required background checks, including criminal, driving record, and drug testing.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical activities associated with classroom duties.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
