About the role

The OHE Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the placement of overhead electrical cables, ensuring crew safety, tracking employee hours, completing safety briefings/inspections, and coordinating project utility locations. This position oversees the Line team and collaborates with personnel from various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain all necessary materials for the job and ensure permits and licenses are in place.
  • Oversee project work, assuming full responsibility for quality and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to MasTec or customer requirements, whichever is higher.
  • Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections, ensuring understanding of safety briefings.
  • Perform aerial tasks, such as new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing (only when not needed as a Qualified observer).
  • Place overhead electrical cables and connect wires/cables to terminals, attaching/detaching hardware to buildings or poles.
  • Coordinate and supervise daily crew tasks related to digging and placing product.
  • Perform construction work, including digging holes, placing cable, air pipe, and inner duct work in conduit systems or open excavations.
  • Climb utility poles and/or use aerial lift trucks to place cables per system design.
  • Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 years of experience, with 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of experience, including extensive supervisory and training experience for skilled labor.
  • OSHA 20 Certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role operates in a field environment, routinely requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Work occurs in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The position is physically active, with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires clarity of vision at varying distances, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
