Offset Web Press Operator (2nd or 3rd Shift)

Position Summary

The Web Offset Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of printing equipment, including sheet-fed and web, in alignment with manufacturing standards and product specifications. This role involves operating both basic and advanced printing machinery, ensuring high-quality output, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting efficient production processes. The operator plays a key role in meeting production goals while adhering to safety and quality requirements across multiple print platforms. This position offers a clean, climate-controlled, and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Sets-up and operates press according to production specifications and manufacturing standards.
• Responsible for quality and quantity of finished product and follows all job checking procedures.
• Properly records time and materials on each individual job, as well as recording daily information utilizing automated data collection system.
• Handles routine daily and monthly maintenance as required.
• Works closely with the manufacturing maintenance staff on the preventive maintenance program, as necessary.
• Works overtime as needed to meet production requirements.
• Able to work any of the three shifts as needed for production or training.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of manufacturing equipment operation experience, printing experience preferred
• High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity to perform adjustments and maintenance
• Able to follow written instructions
• Detail oriented with focus on quality
• Problem solving skills
• Must be proficient in the use of a PC
• Able to detect subtle differences between colors, and achieve a match

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing (industrial printing) environment and may involve exposure to noise hazards, high speed mechanical moving parts, chemical hazards, and hazards common to press operation and the printing industry.
• Work may involve repetitive operation of industrial equipment for extended periods of time.
• Work may require frequent lifting of materials and equipment which have the potential of weighing up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
• Work activities may include the pushing/pulling of heavy materials, supplies or equipment.
• Equipment operation may require frequent bending, grasping, and reaching.
• Press activities and printing equipment operation will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include hearing protection, eye protection, hand protection and safety-toe footwear.
