Web Offset Press Operator (Second Press)
About the Role
Quad is seeking an experienced Web Offset Press Operator (Second Press) to join our Hartford manufacturing team. Working alongside the First Press Operator, you'll help produce high-quality printed products while supporting productivity, quality, and safety goals. You'll assist with press setup, monitor print quality, perform press adjustments, and troubleshoot equipment while contributing to efficient, high-volume production. Experience operating Harris, Heidelberg, Goss, Manroland, or similar web offset presses is highly preferred.
What You'll Do
- Support press make-readies and production runs
- Monitor color consistency, registration accuracy, and overall print quality
- Inspect printed products and make quality adjustments as needed
- Assist with plate changes, press adjustments, and troubleshooting
- Re-thread paper and adjust tension systems during web breaks
- Monitor press performance and optimize production efficiency
- Assist in training and supporting press crew members as needed
- Complete quality checks and production documentation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous commercial printing press experience is required
- Experience operating web offset presses is preferred; candidates with experience operating sheetfed offset, flexographic, gravure, or other commercial printing press platforms are encouraged to apply
- Experience operating Harris, Heidelberg, Goss, Manroland, or similar web offset presses is highly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production specifications, and work instructions
- Strong understanding of web offset printing processes, color control, registration, and print quality standards
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English to safely perform job duties, follow work instructions, and communicate effectively with team members
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require
Pay & Schedule
- Starting at $22.00 / hour or more, based on relevant experience and work history
- 12-hour rotating schedule (days and nights)
- 12-hour compressed work schedule (3/4 or 4/3 rotation), working only 182 days per year while maintaining full-time pay and benefits
- Paid relocation available for qualified candidates relocating from 100+ miles away
