Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Office Technician (Typing) (OT) (T) will produce and/or edit and format drafts and final correspondence in accordance with Departmental guidelines. The OT (T) will also log and track controlled correspondence, maintain various tracking logs, and other assorted controls. Additional duties include:
- Act as a liaison between program management and other entities associated with the controlled correspondence.
- Answer incoming calls, direct calls to appropriate staff, and take messages.
- Assist with workload demands within the office and use good judgment in accurately evaluating situations and taking effective action.
- Work with confidential and sensitive information and maintain confidentiality of information accessed during the course of duties.
- Interact with all office staff and have telephone and personal contact with representatives of other Departmental units, outside agencies, and the general public.
Requirements
- Ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (a valid typing certificate confirming this ability must be obtained prior to being hired).
- Must clear a Background Investigation prior to being hired.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
- Must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) along with the application. The SOQ should be no longer than two pages, single spaced, and in 12-point font, providing a narrative discussion of how your education, training, experience, and skills qualify you for this position.
- If using education to meet minimum qualifications, unofficial transcripts must be included with the application. Official transcripts may be required if selected.
- Subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
