About the role
The Office Technician Contract provides secretarial support to a school site, maintains records, compiles and distributes materials and reports, and responds to inquiries from internal and external sources.
Responsibilities
- Administers first aid and prescription medications to students under the direction of a health care professional, following established guidelines.
- Assists in developing master schedules to ensure student course and class size requirements are accurate.
- Attends department and in-service meetings to convey and gather required information.
- Collects payments for events such as fines, fees, and fundraisers to complete transactions and secure funds.
- Compiles data (e.g., Student Educational Occupation Plans, calendars, work orders, budget reports, student records) to prepare reports, process requests, or provide information for assigned administrators.
- Coordinates projects and activities (e.g., distributing materials, arranging conferences, meetings, travel, proctoring exit assessments) to complete tasks and deliver services in a timely manner.
- Maintains manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g., student transcripts, purchase orders, work orders, time sheets) to provide up-to-date information and ensure compliance with administrative and legal requirements.
- Monitors inventory of supplies and materials (e.g., forms, office supplies) to ensure availability.
- Monitors student behaviors in hallways, auditoriums, and other areas to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Prepares correspondence, reports, and materials (e.g., awards, report cards, class schedules, letters, memorandums, minutes, charts, periodic and ad-hoc reports).
- Processes documents and materials (e.g., schedule/class changes, student registrations, time sheets, work orders, travel reimbursements) to ensure accurate historical documentation.
- Researches assigned topics (e.g., student record discrepancies, policies, education codes) to provide accurate information for department operations.
- Responds to inquiries from parents, district staff, schools, government agencies, the public, and students to facilitate communication and provide direction.
- Reviews release of students to authorized parents or guardians to ensure student safety.
- Schedules activities (e.g., appointments, meetings, travel reservations, facility usage) to make necessary arrangements for administrators.
- Verifies student-related data (e.g., grades, information, coursework) to ensure accuracy of student records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- Job-related experience is desired.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Pay
Hourly rate: $16.51–$18.55, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
8 hours per day.
