Position Summary

You are responsible for all aspects of the institution Canteen operations for WRC. Your responsibilities include:

  • Processing resident commissary, unit incentive programs, and legal loan orders
  • Filling requests from other departments for items from our outside vendors
  • Receiving, x-raying, inventorying, and distributing resident commissary orders, processing residents’ commissary credits, and processing delivery cages
  • Back-up support for the OOA position in the Forms and Records Retention area

Salary Information

The starting pay is $21.05 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

Applicants must have the ability to type at least 35 net words per minute. This will be verified as part of the selection process. A practical computer exercise will also be part of the selection process.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Qualifications

At a minimum, you’ll need the following:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) for office support tasks such as email correspondence, data entry, etc.
  • Experience performing and prioritizing office support tasks such as responding to inquiries, describing policies or procedures, resolving customer issues, filing records and documents, etc.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information such as personal identifiable information (PII) or health record information.

It’d be great if you also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience working in a secure environment such as a prison or correctional facility.
  • Experience scheduling tasks using electronic scheduling/calendar software such as Microsoft Outlook or similar programs.
  • Experience auditing and reviewing records for completeness and accuracy.
