Subquadratic is a frontier AI research company that believes the architecture layer is the highest-leverage surface in AI. While other major labs focus on incremental improvements to Transformer models, we're pushing foundational change at the architecture level to build models and products that scale efficiently. About The Role We're looking for someone who loves taking care of the little things so our team can focus on the work. You'll be the heart of our San Francisco office: the person who keeps it running smoothly, greets everyone warmly, and solves problems before most people notice them. You'll also help teammates relocating to San Francisco. Many of our employees are moving to the Bay Area, and you'll be our eyes and ears on the ground as they find a new home. At your core, you're driven by hospitality. You're organized, detail-oriented, and happiest when everyone around you has what they need. This is a part-time role to start, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as our San Francisco office grows. What you'll do Office operations Open and look after the office each day, keeping it clean, stocked, and ready for the team. Put our office processes into practice and keep them going, and suggest improvements as you spot them. Welcome visitors and guests, and manage check-in. Receive, sort, and distribute packages and mail. Be the main contact for building management and engineering requests, such as maintenance issues, access cards, and helping teammates who are locked out. Order and manage office supplies, snacks, and equipment. Keep track of vendors, deliveries, and service schedules. Help plan and run team lunches and special events, including occasional evening events (about once every two months, usually 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.), and support visits from teammates in other cities. Relocation support Help employees relocating to San Francisco settle in smoothly. Visit apartments on behalf of employees, and send videos, photos, and honest impressions. Share local knowledge about neighborhoods, commutes, and everyday life in the city. Be a friendly first point of contact for new arrivals as they get to know San Francisco. Who you are Warm, welcoming, and genuinely enjoy taking care of people. Highly organized, with strong attention to detail. A natural problem-solver who stays calm and figures things out. Reliable and consistent. You follow through and stick with processes once they're in place. Comfortable working on your own and taking ownership of the space. Clear, friendly communicator in person and in writing. Nice to have You know San Francisco well: its neighborhoods, its rental market, and its best spots. Experience in office management, hospitality, front-of-house, or executive support. Experience at a startup or in a fast-moving environment. Comfortable with tools like Slack, Google Workspace, and Rippling. Next Steps We review every application. If there's a fit with current or upcoming needs, someone from our team will reach out. SubQ is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
