Responsibilities
- Interact with patients and their families in person, on the phone, and via email in a professional, personable, and empathetic manner
- Answer phone calls and make calls to patients, physicians, and other staff
- Manage patient check-out after appointments and schedule return visits
- Schedule surgical cases and new clinic appointments
- Manage physicians’ professional calendars
- Act as a liaison between the office and other hospital staff
- Oversee front-end payment collection and insurance authorizations
- Train, oversee, and develop junior staff within the physician office (as applicable)
- Proactively identify ways to enhance physician office operations
Requirements
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree highly desirable (5-7 years of physician office experience may be considered in lieu of education)
- Attention to detail and ability to relay messages and information accurately
- Ability to derive practical solutions independently in a fast-paced environment while escalating patient care issues appropriately
- Follow through with tasks to completion, going above and beyond for key tasks or critical patient needs
- Adherence to patient privacy, HIPAA protection of data, and other HSS policies
- Strong computer and internet skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Ability to learn new software tools and systems as required
- Ability to effectively and accurately follow directions and/or instructions
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and pragmatic; energized by working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task is essential
Qualifications
- EPIC EMR experience (desired)
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical billing/insurance is helpful; ability to learn and apply new information quickly is key
Pay
The base pay scale for this position is $35.16 - $53.71. The salary of the finalist will be determined based on factors including scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and Fair Market Value evaluation. This position is also eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role.
