About the role

Techno is seeking an Office Engineer to support the Technical Division of a major regional transportation infrastructure program. This role will play an integral part in project coordination, document management, project controls, and construction administration efforts that support successful project delivery across multiple disciplines and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced environments that require collaboration between project managers, engineers, field personnel, contractors, and agency representatives. This position will be based at the Program Management Office in Newark, New Jersey, with an in-office schedule of Monday through Wednesday. Candidates should also be comfortable traveling throughout New York City and New Jersey to support project meetings, field activities, and stakeholder coordination efforts as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Aid in the preparation, review, and distribution of project documentation, including plans, schedules, reports, meeting materials, and correspondence.
  • Maintain project records, logs, and documentation to ensure accuracy, organization, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate communication and project updates.
  • Manage project submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and change orders while ensuring timely responses and proper tracking.
  • Review design drawings, specifications, and technical documents to identify discrepancies, conflicts, and potential issues.
  • Support quality control processes, track non-conformances, and assist in resolving construction-related questions.
  • Collaborate with field teams to ensure office activities align with project milestones and field operations.
  • Monitor project deliverables and assist with project controls activities.
  • Support coordination meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and action items.
  • Aid in project closeout activities and final turnover documentation.
  • Maintain organized project files in accordance with project procedures and agency requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting transportation, rail, tunnel, heavy civil, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working in engineering, construction management, or project office environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, project controls, and construction administration processes.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting active transportation or rail environments is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting large public transportation agencies is required.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting Amtrak, NJ Transit, MTA, PANYNJ, or comparable transportation organizations.

THE EXPECTED SALARY RANGE FOR THIS ROLE IN NEW JERSEY IS $60 - $95 PER HOUR
