About The Role

Techno is seeking an Office Engineer/Inspector to support a transportation infrastructure rehabilitation project in New Jersey. The ideal candidate will provide a blend of field inspection and office engineering support, ensuring construction activities are properly documented, coordinated, and executed in accordance with project requirements. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience supporting transportation or bridge rehabilitation projects and a strong understanding of construction administration processes within an active transit environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide day-to-day field inspection and office engineering support throughout construction activities.
  • Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain daily reports, inspection logs, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Cookordinate with project stakeholders, contractors, and client representatives to track progress and resolve issues.
  • Review and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other construction-related documentation.
  • Assist with quantity tracking, schedule monitoring, and progress reporting.
  • Support construction meetings and maintain accurate project records throughout the duration of the assignment.
  • Verify installed work and document any deficiencies or non-conforming conditions.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, including punch list coordination and final documentation turnover.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience supporting transportation, bridge, or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Previous experience serving as an Office Engineer, Inspector, or a hybrid OE/Inspector role.
  • Prior NJ TRANSIT experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of construction administration, documentation, and inspection procedures.
  • Experience reviewing and processing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contractor documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, project teams, and client representatives.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work both in the field and in an office environment as project needs dictate.
