About the role

AECOM is actively seeking an Inspector/Office Engineer to join our team and support ongoing construction engineering and inspection efforts in the Hunt Valley, MD area. This role will play a critical part in supporting a construction project from the project office. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, inspectors, contractors, and SHA staff to ensure project documentation, contract administration, and payment processes are accurate and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Set own project deadlines
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees
  • Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
  • Perform daily field inspections and maintain inspection records
  • Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Track quality assurance progress and document inspection findings
  • Provide input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to address inspection concerns and ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Document deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions required to meet contract requirements
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain comprehensive project documentation for quality assurance purposes
  • Communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and project status updates to project management and engineering teams

Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing monthly pay estimates, tracking quantities, and processing change orders
  • Knowledge of SHA Standard Specifications, Standard Details, and construction manuals
  • Experience reviewing contractor schedules and monitoring project progress
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and material certifications

Pay

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $30 to $40 per hour.
