About the role

The Office Engineer will be based in Seattle, WA, and is required to have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, along with 5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all documents associated with the project's activities, including uploading documents to a SharePoint-based content management application, managing the document control system, and managing document revisions.
  • Maintain project files and document/submittal management systems in both hard and electronic copies; work with contractors to ensure drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Review, track, process, and distribute submittals, RFIs, RFCs, design submittals, shop drawings, product data, and work plans; review submittals and other construction documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Distribute documents, submittals, and RFIs for review; track and compile responses and review comments; obtain management approval and issue responses to contractors.
  • Maintain a list of submittals, deliverables, and other construction documents; report on the progress of submittal, RFI, and design submittal reviews at progress meetings.
  • Manage workflows and coordinate responses to contractor Requests for Change (RFC), Requests for Information (RFI), shop drawing submittals, and contractor work plans.
  • Assist with change order documentation and compilation; write and distribute RFIs, correspondence, meeting minutes, procurement requests, and all replies.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets; update and utilize Primavera Contract Management Software.
  • Prepare a submittal log in accordance with the project schedule and specifications; monitor and expedite submittals in accordance with the submittal log and project requirements; maintain and update status reports as required.
  • Attend progress, safety, site coordination, and ad hoc meetings; attend and document project meetings including writing agendas and minutes; oversee general correspondence as required.
  • Track project correspondence.
  • Support quality control activities, verify as-builts, execute the equipment receiving process, and manage closeout documentation.
  • In conjunction with Construction Administrators, obtain all closeout materials from subcontractors and suppliers including guarantees and warranties, as-builts, final pay applications, lien releases, Operations and Maintenance Manuals, and coordinate owner training of equipment.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the project's inspectors, client construction manager, client project manager, and Department of Transportation Construction, Transit Design, and program management teams.
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings; complete other responsibilities to support the project such as expediting functions and preparing and maintaining an expediting log.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard document control software such as EDMS, CMS, Unifier, and ProjectWise for document control, RFI, and submittal management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365.
