Office Engineer
About the role
Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, seeks experienced Office Engineers for projects throughout Southern California. This role involves supporting road and highway improvement projects with a hybrid work schedule, working closely with the construction management team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare construction change orders and supporting documentation, including independent cost estimates and memoranda.
- Log, review, track, and respond to Request for Information (RFIs) and submittals.
- Draft and manage project correspondence, including letters to contractors and project stakeholders.
- Prepare and review monthly quantity sheets (Q-sheets) and assist with progress estimates.
- Attend and document project meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes.
- Review and track contractor progress schedules.
- Maintain project records, including monthly estimates and weekly project status reports.
- Perform constructability reviews of transportation projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in office engineering on transportation or major public works projects.
- Four (4) years of experience is preferred.
- Experience preparing Caltrans contract change orders.
- Knowledge of Caltrans standard plans, specifications, procedures, and Construction Manual.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and recordkeeping abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused professional who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or California PE license (a plus).
Qualifications

Benefits
Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary Range: $110,000 - $180,000. Benefits include:

Pay
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
